Gentle Giant's
Gentle Giant Caregivers
A Gentle Giant Caregiver is a specially trained support professional who may be requested by a caregiver, nurse, or family member when there is concern about a potential risk of harm to the individual or others in the household—without aggression or force.
The role of the Gentle Giant is to calmly and respectfully redirect the individual in a peaceful, private, and dignified manner. This may include accompanying the individual out of the home for a grounding activity such as a short drive, a visit for ice cream, a walk in the park, or a trip to a local store.
Gentle Giants focus on de-escalation through presence, connection, and reassurance. When appropriate and welcomed, they may offer prayer or supportive conversation, fostering fellowship and emotional regulation during moments of heightened stress.
Gentle Giant Caregivers are typically male professionals with a larger physical stature, selected not for intimidation, but for their ability to provide quiet strength, emotional steadiness, and a calming presence. Many have prior experience in team-based or high-pressure environments and are trained to remain friendly, composed, and compassionate. Their calm but confident demeanor often helps stabilize emotionally charged situations and restore a sense of safety and control.
